GULL’s practical approach to personal and professional development uses action learning to help individuals, communities and organizations to sustain learning and apply the outcomes. Lifelong learning is for EVERYONE and all are welcome to journey with us. GULL’s focus is to reach the majority: the low paid, disadvantaged groups and in economic terms, the world’s poorest people. GULL affiliates with organizations that share our vision for universal access to learning in the workplace and in the community.

GULL is a network movement and the role of its leadership is to facilitate, not to control. We believe that this is the key to taking GULL’s mission and lifelong learning to the world. GULL’s central services and support are purpose designed to serve and support GULL system users.

GULL’s mission and mandate can only be accomplished by affiliating with organizations that are willing to use the GULL system to facilitate lifelong learning. Our objective is to GIVE the GULL system to your organization so that you can use it for this purpose, and later cascade the GULL system to others, guided at all times by the GULL code of practice.

The easiest way to affiliate with GULL is to contact us from the ‘Contact Us’ page at the website. There are no membership fees or other barriers to participation - we simply want to harness all the skills and abilities that are offered in order to help others to learn, grow and develop. Please note though that GULL does not have the resources to support individual learners and it is for this reason that we only affiliate with organizational representatives. If you represent any kind of organization with a desire to help others to learn at work or in the community, please contact us and a member of our executive team will explore the possibilities with you – either by email or where possible, by meeting you.

The GULL system can support any form of workplace or community training and development activity as our purpose is to recognize learning outcomes. Affiliations are listed below and the list is updated periodically.

A member of our executive team will work with you on a cost recovery basis to establish a GULL pilot activity and thereafter, provide on-going support (funded by you) until you are able to utilize the GULL system independently. GULL’s panel of vice presidents hold regional roles and they are responsible for agreeing affordable fees with you for workplace applications and the arrangements for support and quality assurance. GULL does not have a standard tariff of fees, we would rather you decide what your employees or customers can reasonably afford. You can of course, charge more for managers and executives but please ensure that line employees are not excluded on the basis of affordability.

In keep with our networking approach, GULL does not offer ‘exclusive’ rights to distribute the GULL system to any affiliate. Instead, we adopt an inclusive approach that encourages collaborative partnerships between affiliate organizations. Although GULL’s central operations are not-for-profit, we recognize that in order to fund community applications, it is necessary for affiliates to secure a trading surplus from workplace applications. Regional vice presidents are empowered to explore ways of accomplishing this objective and ideally via a collaborative cascading process with provision for income sharing based on mutually agreed roles. Here for example, an existing affiliate could recruit and support multiple new affiliates (from their own network of contacts) in return for a share of income from new affiliate activity during an initial period (typically 1-2 years). As the new affiliates become familiar with and experienced in using the GULL system they can in turn recruit and cascade the GULL system on the same basis. In summary, we encourage our affiliates to ‘give away’ the GULL system to others and to agree income sharing arrangements (for commercial applications) with the appropriate regional GULL vice president for the benefit of all concerned.
