Micael Olsson
Global Director, World Vision-Global University for Lifelong Learning (WV-GULL)
Dr Micael Olsson is currently Director for Education and Life Skills at World Vision’s Global Center where he has forged new minimum standards for WV’s investment in education, focused on improving child learning outcomes and improvements to the child‘s learning environment. The new approach relies on engaging external partners to help improve reading and basic math outcomes and on strengthening WV’s own capacity to improve life skills learning. Micael is a strong advocate for professionalizing and recognizing the many local volunteers who daily contribute to improving child learning outcomes. This is the main purpose of WV-GULL - a partnership between World Vision and the Global University for Lifelong Learning. He was instrumental in establishing a similar system of both capacity building and achievement recognition at Americans for Indian Opportunity, elevating the accomplishments of key agents of change in the Native American community.artedly support GULL’s philosophy, mission, method and philanthropy."
Prior to his current role, Dr Olsson served for ten years as Director of Community Learning Systems at Education Development Center in Washington, DC where he fostered the use of structured, multi-stakeholder consensus building processes to better support rural education development programs in Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean. Prior to that he spend 23 years in Papua New Guinea, first as a Bible Translator, and then in various education roles within NGOs, the University, the Department of Education, and as Social Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister.
